DuPont Chromalusion
Description:
A palette of twenty-four basecoat/clearcoat CHROMAPREMIER(TM) factory package colors that use DuPont's revolutionary MIRROMETRIC(TM) technology.
The pigment has no color of its own but creates color with a prism effect by refracting or bending light through a five-layer flake constructed of transparent metal oxides using a semiconductor process.
DuPont offers 16 color variations in its Chromalusion line. They're created by mixing various levels of the original 8 color-shifting pigments. DuPont describes Chromalusion as having the brightness
of a metallic and the richness and saturation of a pearl. Once you've chosen a color, DuPont will recommend the shade of basecoat or sealer to use underneath. You may also tint Chromalusion by
using up to 5 percent DuPont MasterTint mixing color.
Colors: There are 24 different colors available based on 6 variations each of 4 basic DuPont Chromalusion colors which are called Blasberry, Fireprizm, Jadeprizm, and Purpleen.
Application:
- Spray gun cap: 1.3 mm
- Air pressure: Spray gun cap pressure should be 6-8 psi for HVLP guns, and 35-45 psi for conventional equipment.
- Coats: Apply three to five coats of Chromalusion over the groundcoat, which should be a similar color or black.
- Dry time: Flash time between coats is 5-10 minutes. Before taping on graphics, 30 minutes. Maximum dry time before clearcoating is 24 hours.
Notes: For best results, Chromalusion should be used over DuPont's color enhancement ValueShade. DuPont also recommends creating a let-down panel by taping and spraying a panel showing three,
four, and five coats over the groundcoat to find the best result. Activate only what you intend to spray. Additives like accelerator, fish-eye eliminator, flex additive, and retarder are not recommended
for use with Chromalusion. Using Activator 12305S in Chromalusion is mandatory and also allows use over flexible materials. A slower reducer is recommended for improved application.
